Thanks to the trustees!

Now that it’s time to develop workable strategies to institute a university, the trustees of the foundation, who were selected primarily on the basis of their ideas, are showing their worth. The strategy we’re developing is a masterwork. This is by far the most competent group I’ve ever seen – it’s the first time I’ve actually seen “synergy” in action. Thanks, everyone!

I just stumbled across your blog and ProjectPolymath separately, and I must say ProjectPolymath is an incredibly appealing idea! I’m an 18 year old philomath and I’m basically interested in *everything*!

I’ve been searching all over the internet for the past few days, reading everything there is about polymaths and how to become a polymath. Right now, I’m in the process of picking a university and courses, but nothing appeals to me, as everything is just too interesting! I don’t want to limit myself to any one area, because it would feel like suffocation, and I wouldn’t be able to maintain my enthusiasm for one narrow area for very long anyway.

School gets boring rapidly for me, because after the teaching/theory (which I understand quickly), we have to do ‘work’/homework/experiments/useless stuff, which gets incredibly frustrating because all I want to do is move on. Also, I wanted to do about ten more subjects more than I’m currently doing (which is five), but I couldn’t, of course, because the workload would be far too much (even though I don’t do any work except assessments).

I find that most of what I know, and most of which has made me what I am so far, has been from reading books and through computers/the internet. Ironically enough, my school emphasises ‘self-directed learning’, which is precisely what I’d be doing more of if I didn’t have to do any homework. Still, I’m pretty lucky, as I do a fraction of the work everyone else does, and attain much better results. 😀

The Project Polymath vision is just perfect in my mind, and exactly what I’d love to be a student of, if it was up and running, and located somewhere near me. I’d be very interested to hear any comments or suggestions about my situation (if so, email me at dkerksal@gmail.com).

    And I’m an INTP 😛
